From property management to supporting deals, it's interesting to see how much of this traditional, offline space is being impacted by online technology. And how many of the fastest-growing startups in the proptech world are outside of the US.
For years, companies have worked to ease the buying, selling, and trading of stocks, and now new blockchain-focused startups are looking to automate and secure the process more efficiently than any past solution.
Some governments are taking it upon themselves to realize the benefits of blockchain. For example, the Swedish Land Registry has explored the use of blockchain for land registration, potentially eliminating fraud and reducing ownership disputes. It has also tested the use of smart contracts to execute property sales.
In 2016, Learning Machine collaborated with MIT Media Lab to launch the Blockcerts toolset, which provides an open infrastructure for academic credentials on the blockchain. In 2020, the company was acquired by Hyland Credentials, which provides a blockchain-based system for issuing and verifying digital credentials.
In the alpha-level concept, passenger-only pods were to be 7 ft 4 in (2.23 m) in diameter and were projected to reach a top speed of 760 mph (1,220 km/h) to maintain aerodynamic efficiency.[3] (Section 4.4) The design proposed passengers experience a maximum inertial acceleration of 0.5 g, about 2 or 3 times that of a commercial airliner on takeoff and landing.[citation needed]
In November 2017, Arrivo announced a concept for a maglev automobile transport system from Aurora, Colorado to Denver International Airport, the first leg of a system from downtown Denver.[38] Its contract described potential completion of a first leg in 2021. In February 2018, Hyperloop Transportation Technologies announced a similar plan for a loop connecting Chicago and Cleveland and a loop connecting Washington and New York City.[39]
The Northeast Ohio Areawide Coordinating Agency, or NOACA, partnered with Hyperloop Transportation Technologies[when?] to conduct a $1.3 million feasibility study for developing a hyperloop corridor route from Chicago to Cleveland and Pittsburgh for America's first multistate hyperloop system in the Great Lakes Megaregion. Hundreds of thousands of dollars already have been committed to the project. NOACA's Board of Directors has awarded a $550,029 contract to Transportation Economics & Management Systems, Inc. (TEMS) for the Great Lakes Hyperloop Feasibility Study to evaluate the feasibility of an ultra-high speed hyperloop passenger and freight transport system initially linking Cleveland and Chicago.[44][full citation needed]
Others have put forward European routes, including a route beginning at Amsterdam or Schiphol airport to Frankfurt.[68][69][70] In 2016, a Warsaw University of Technology team began evaluating potential routes from Cracow to Gdańsk across Poland proposed by Hyper Poland.[71]
In February 2020, Hardt Hyperloop, Hyper Poland, TransPod and Zeleros formed a consortium to drive standardization efforts, as part of a joint technical committee (JTC20) set up by European standards bodies CEN and CENELEC to develop common standards aimed at ensuring the safety and interoperability of infrastructure, rolling stock, signaling and other systems.[91]
EuroTube is a non-profit research organization for the development of vacuum transport technology.[94] EuroTube is currently developing a 3.1 km (1.9 mi) test tube in Collombey-Muraz, Switzerland. The organization was founded in 2017 at ETH Zurich as a Swiss association and became a Swiss foundation in 2019.[95] The test tube is planned on a 2:1 scale with a diameter of 2.2 m and designed for 900 km/h (560 mph).
The alpha proposal projected that cost savings compared with conventional rail would come from a combination of several factors. The small profile and elevated nature of the alpha route would enable hyperloop to be constructed primarily in the median of Interstate 5. However, whether this would be truly feasible is a matter of debate. The low profile would reduce tunnel boring requirements and the light weight of the capsules is projected to reduce construction costs over conventional passenger rail. It was asserted that there would be less right-of-way opposition and environmental impact as well due to its small, sealed, elevated profile versus that of a rail easement;[3] however, other commentators contend that a smaller footprint does not guarantee less opposition.[33] In criticizing this assumption, mass transportation writer Alon Levy said, "In reality, an all-elevated system (which is what Musk proposes with the Hyperloop) is a bug rather than a feature. Central Valley land is cheap; pylons are expensive, as can be readily seen by the costs of elevated highways and trains all over the world".[120][121] Michael Anderson, a professor of agricultural and resource economics at UC Berkeley, predicted that costs would amount to around US$100 billion.[8]
5. Reykjavik, IcelandIceland wasn't exactly in the original plans for this list. I mean, it only has 280,000 inhabitants over its 103,000 sq. km. While this extremely northernly country was long considered a film wasteland by the industry, lately they've been changing their toon (animation can be punny, no?).
Framestore isn't the only animation studio to thrive in Iceland, homegrown favorite CAOZ recently completed the country's first feature-length animated film, Legends of Valhalla: Thor, a full-feature Stereoscopic 3D CG animation film scheduled for international release. MIDSTRAETI is another Icelandic animation/production studio doing quite well for themselves.
These companies are succeeding not only for their talent but also because of the 20% tax incentive for film makers from the government, a subsidy that includes post production. They've also got a low currency thanks to the country's economic meltdown a few years ago. Another key to the industry's success is the fact that it is well supported by the fine work at the Icelandic Film Commission.
Gaming isn't the only industry in Stockholm to boom either, they also have a happening animation scene that is home to studios like Againstallodds, Aplhaville AB, AMN Film, Blandteknik HB, Bulls Eye 3D, Castell Media, Cinematic Stockholm, Degaussian, Embrya AB, Fido Film AB, FilmTecknarna Animation, Forsman Animation, Goodmotion, Happy Life, Kaktus Film, Mad Crew, Magnus Carlsson Production, Magoo, Nyberg Animation, Rylander Animation, TestNo7, The Chimney Pot, Zigzag Animation, Tosun Animation Studio, ILP VFX and WERK.
The animation industry in London is a fairly tight-knit scene, consisting of many well-connected firms like Aardman Animations and community groups like the London Animation Club, which meets in rather clandestine locations so that attending a meeting is like playing a game of espionage. Other London-based animation studios include Chapman Entertainment, Jim Henson's Creature Shop, The Moving Picture Company, Cosgrove Hall Fitzpatrick, Studio AKA, Seed Animation, Blue Zoo, BE Animation, Cake Studio, Unanico Group, Klacto Animations, Ashley Baker Davies Ltd., Picasso Pictures, Trunk Animation, Red Star Studio and many more. And of course let's not forget the BBC.
Brisbane has a good array of studios for relocating animators, including popular gaming studios like: 3 Blokes Studios, Defiant Development, Electronic Games Queensland, Eyecon, Fuzzeye Studios, Halfbrick Studios, Krome Studios, N3V Games, Tantlus, The Binary Mill, The Creative Assembly Australia and Wildfire Studios. There is also a long list of popular animation studios, including: Animal Logic, Studio Joho, Bigfish.tv, Ambience Entertainment, Blue Rocket, Liquid Animation, The People's Republic of Animation, Excellent Video Production, Light Knights Entertainment, JellyFirm Animation, Asterisk* Productions, Changeling Productions Australia, Gep-Art Studios, Hell Yeah! Design, Keypoze, Liquid Animation Pty Ltd., Lucid Realms Multimedia, Media Odyssey, Queensland Animators, S P Krause, The Third Shoe, Visual Media Productions, Visual Media Productions, Max Bannah Animation and Koscad Design & Animation.
The strong gaming industry in this Finnish capital is well-supported by the Finland Chapter of the International Game Developers Association (IGDA), who project continued growth in the industry for years to come.
Animators in Buenos Aires have the opportunity to do fun and uniquely Argentinian activities like dancing the Argentine Tango and drinking Mate. They also get to enjoy the interesting climatic regions in the country that include tropical climates in the north and tundra in the south. And then there is Patagonia, which holds some of the most dramatic landscapes on the planet. Oh and don't forget about Argentina having some of the best skiing in the world!
20. Auckland, New ZealandNew Zealand brings us even bigger contributions to the international film scene than its home-grown hero, internationally-acclaimed director/producer Peter Jackson. NZ also gives us Auckland and its incredible animation, post production, gaming and VFX scene.
These states and territories operate their own OSHA-approved job safety and health programs and cover state and local government workers as well as private sector workers. The Connecticut, Illinois, New Jersey, New York and Virgin Islands plans cover public workers only. States with approved programs must have standards that are identical to, or at least as effective as, the federal OSHA standards. Visit OSHA's State Plan States Web page for more information.
The Ministry of Economy and Finance (MOEF) administers tax and other incentives to stimulate advanced technology transfer and investment in high-technology services. There are three types of special areas for foreign investment (i.e., Free Economic Zones, Free Investment Zones, and Tariff Free Zones), where favorable tax incentives and other support for investors are available. The ROK aims to attract more foreign investment by promoting its seven Free Economic Zones: Incheon (near Incheon airport); Busan/Jinhae (in South Gyeongsang Province); Gwangyang Bay (in South Gyeongsang Province); Yellow Sea (in South Chungcheong Province); Daegu/Gyeongbuk (in North Gyeongsang Province); East Sea (in Donghae and Gangneung); and Chungbuk (in North Chungcheong Province). Additional information is available at . There are also 26 Foreign Investment Zones designated by local governments to accommodate industrial sites for foreign investors. Special considerations for foreign investors vary among these options. In addition, there are four foreign-exclusive industrial complexes in Gyeonggi Province designed to provide inexpensive land, with the national and local governments providing assistance for leasing or selling in the sites at discounted rates. 2ff7e9595c
